EMSTEEL Group opened Fastmarkets’ Middle East Iron and Steel Conference 2025 with a strong message on competitiveness, regional cooperation, and industrial decarbonisation. During the event, the Group announced three strategic agreements aimed at strengthening downstream development and enhancing the UAE’s position as a hub for responsible, low-carbon manufacturing.
New Agreements to Boost Industrial Growth
Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, Group CEO of EMSTEEL, delivered the keynote address and urged regional stakeholders to work collectively to navigate global trade pressures while accelerating sustainability efforts. He highlighted the UAE’s rising demand for steel, steady rebar consumption growth, and expanding low-carbon industrial framework, noting that local producers must continue to innovate to remain competitive.
The first major announcement of the conference was a AED135 million agreement with Primetals Technologies to install a new wire rod outlet and upgrade mill facilities at EMSTEEL’s Abu Dhabi plant. These upgrades will include advanced systems such as the eDrive Morgan No Twist Mill and the Stelmor Cooling Conveyor, which will expand the company’s product range and improve material quality.
EMSTEEL also entered a new agreement with Bekaert to support downstream development and innovation for low CO₂ wire rod. This collaboration aims to advance research, enhance grade development, and strengthen market opportunities for high-performance steel products. In addition, the Group formalised an agreement with the Suez Canal Investment Company, the commercial arm of the Suez Canal Authority, to supply sheet piles for ongoing infrastructure projects across the Suez Canal Zone.
Strengthening the Region’s Low Carbon Industrial Future
EMSTEEL’s announcements underscore its growing role as a national industrial leader. The Group continues to support the UAE’s industrial strategy by prioritising sustainability, economic localisation, and clean technology integration. Its progress has been recognised by organisations including ResponsibleSteel, the World Steel Association, and the World Economic Forum.
As Regional Host Sponsor of the Middle East Iron and Steel Conference for the second consecutive year, EMSTEEL is actively participating in strategic discussions throughout the three day event. More than 1,300 executives, policymakers, and technical experts are gathering in Dubai to address market resilience, future technologies, and the global shift toward low carbon steelmaking.
