Steel and building materials producer EMSTEEL Group has partnered with Yellow Door Energy to develop the UAE’s largest industrial solar PV rooftop project.
The 31.5-megawatt-peak (MWp) project will power EMSTEEL’s facilities with renewable energy, supporting the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 target. Yellow Door Energy will finance, build, own, operate, and maintain solar installations across 40 EMSTEEL rooftops in ICAD 1, Abu Dhabi.
Supporting EMSTEEL’s Decarbonisation Goals
Once completed, the project is expected to generate 50 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually, offsetting 16,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions. This will reduce EMSTEEL’s energy costs and carbon footprint.
Engineer Saeed Ghumran Saeed Al Remeithi, Group CEO of EMSTEEL, said, “This collaboration with Yellow Door Energy is a major step in our decarbonisation journey, reinforcing our leadership in sustainable manufacturing.”
Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy, added, “This project highlights how solar power can drive sustainability in key UAE industries.”
Completion expected in 2026
Construction will begin this year, with commissioning planned for 2026. EMSTEEL’s solar lease model enables clean energy adoption without upfront investment, allowing the company to focus on core operations while advancing sustainability.
As part of its broader decarbonisation strategy, EMSTEEL aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in its steel division and 30% in its cement division by 2030, targeting net-zero emissions by 2050.
