Emirates Steel Arkan, the UAE’s largest publicly listed steel and building materials company, has officially rebranded as EMSTEEL in a significant move aimed at accelerating its global growth and operational transformation. The rebranding was unveiled at a grand event in Abu Dhabi, which was attended by top dignitaries, along with over 400 customers, partners, and employees.
This strategic rebranding follows the successful merger of Emirates Steel and Arkan Building Materials, completed in the fourth quarter of 2021. The merger has solidified EMSTEEL’s position as the UAE’s leading steel and building materials company, valued at AED 13 billion ($3.5 billion). The newly adopted brand identity reflects the company’s ambition to enhance its operational capabilities and extend its footprint in international markets.
A Vision for Global Growth and Sustainability
Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, Group Chief Executive Officer of EMSTEEL, emphasized the milestone the rebranding represents for the company. “Today’s unveiling of our new brand identity marks a milestone in our evolution, as the group forges ahead to support its customers and add value to its shareholders with a unified vision. Our EMSTEEL brand carries us forward into a future full of opportunities for expansion, business growth, and digital transformation,” he stated.
Al Remeithi also highlighted EMSTEEL’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. “EMSTEEL is a global leader in low-carbon steel production and the first steelmaker in the world to capture its CO2 emissions, enabling us to operate with 45% less carbon than our peers.” The company aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, with clean energy now constituting 80% of its operational energy use.
Expanding Horizons with New Divisions
Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, EMSTEEL operates 16 state-of-the-art plants with an impressive annual production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes of steel and 4.6 million tonnes of cement. The company’s extensive export network spans over 70 markets worldwide, accounting for 30% of its sales.
Under the EMSTEEL brand, the company will initially focus on two main divisions: Emirates Steel and Emirates Cement. The Emirates Cement division includes prominent entities such as Al Ain Cement Factory, Emirates Blocks Factories, ANABEEB, and Arkan Bags. These divisions will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demands of the UAE’s construction and manufacturing sectors while supporting the company’s expansion into new markets.
The rebranding to EMSTEEL is more than a name change; it marks the beginning of a new era for the company, characterized by strategic growth, innovation, and a commitment to global sustainability.
