Emirates SkyCargo will double its freighter fleet to 21 aircraft by the end of 2026, increasing from the current 10, signalling confidence in the sustained growth of global air cargo demand.
Speaking at the IATA World Cargo Symposium 2025 in Dubai, Nabil Sultan, Divisional Senior Vice President at Emirates SkyCargo, noted that the airline currently operates 10 owned and 6 leased freighters. The carrier is set to receive 11 new Boeing 777Fs by 2026 as part of its expansion plans.
This move aligns with the company’s broader strategy to invest in advanced technologies, upgraded infrastructure, and specialised logistics solutions, particularly in high-value segments such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, and precious goods.
Emirates SkyCargo’s dedicated freighter network presently covers 38 destinations, with a roadmap to add 20 more in the coming years. New cargo routes launched this year include services to Japan and Copenhagen.
The airline’s total global network now spans 148 destinations, supported by a strong network of international partners. The group fleet includes 260 aircraft—250 of which are passenger planes—with ambitions to exceed 300 aircraft by 2030.
Sultan also discussed the development of Al Maktoum International Airport, which is being positioned as the world’s largest cargo hub, with a future handling capacity of up to 12 million tonnes. Emirates SkyCargo will play a central role in fulfilling Dubai’s vision of becoming the global capital for multimodal logistics.
He also highlighted “Emirates Delivers”, a door-to-door express delivery service for businesses, currently operating in seven markets, including the UAE, UK, and South Africa, with plans for global expansion.
Despite global uncertainties, Sultan emphasised Emirates’ adaptability and resilience, citing its four decades of industry experience. He reaffirmed the airline’s continued commitment to innovation and its central role in the future of air cargo.
