Dubai police will fire cannons at seven locations across the city to begin the Festival of Sacrifice after Eid prayers.
The cannons will be fired around 5:45 am at prominent sites such as Za’abeel Grand Mosque, Eid prayer grounds in Umm Suqeim, Nad Al Hamar, Al Barsha, Nad Al Sheba, Al Baraha, and Hatta.
Lt-Col Abdullah Tarish Al Amimi, commander of the cannon team, confirmed that all preparations are complete for this traditional announcement. Cannon firing holds significant cultural importance in the UAE, traditionally used to mark both Eid Al Adha and Eid Al Fitr, similar to its role in signaling Iftar during Ramadan.
Lt-Col Al Amimi emphasized that this practice is deeply rooted in the community’s heritage and collective memory.”
