Global technology group e& has formalised agreements with Ericsson at Gitex Global 2025 to revamp its core network, operations, and business support systems (OSS/BSS) architecture in the UAE, leveraging Ericsson’s advanced cloud-native solutions.
This cloud-focused transformation aims to establish a smarter, more adaptive digital infrastructure for the UAE, capable of real-time responsiveness, automation of complex processes, and delivery of personalised, high-quality experiences to millions of customers.
The move marks a pivotal stage in e&’s strategic digital evolution, accelerating the launch of innovative services, monetisation of 5G, and adoption of emerging technologies in the UAE, including the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cloud-based enterprise offerings.
Under these agreements, e& UAE — the group’s flagship telecom arm — will implement cloud-native products and solutions powered by Ericsson’s Cloud Native Infrastructure Solution (CNIS), part of Ericsson’s Cloud Software and Services portfolio.
The deployment will include Ericsson Charging, Cloud Core Policy Controller (CCPC), Ericsson Signaling Controller, Ericsson Dynamic Activation, and Ericsson Mediation.
Collectively, these solutions will boost operational intelligence, agility, and efficiency, enabling faster innovation and supporting the UAE’s Vision 2031 objectives.
Ali Khalfan Ali Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President of Revenue Management & Network Automation at e& UAE, stated: “Leveraging Ericsson’s cloud-native platforms to enhance our core and monetisation stack allows e& UAE to launch 5G Standalone services more rapidly, offer varied service plans, and automate activations at scale. Convergent charging, centralised policy, and improved signaling reinforce performance, resilience, and customer experience across our nationwide network.”
Petra Schirren, President of Ericsson Gulf, EMEA, commented: “These agreements strengthen our long-standing collaboration with e& UAE and drive the next phase of its network transformation. Our cloud-native solutions equip e& UAE with the flexibility and efficiency required to meet rising digital demands while opening new growth opportunities.”
Together, e& UAE and Ericsson are laying the groundwork for next-generation intelligent connectivity, advancing the UAE’s digital innovation, technological competitiveness, and broader tech ecosystem.
