Dubai’s public transportation system experienced a significant surge in passenger numbers during the Eid Al Fitr holidays earlier this month, as per data released by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Between April 10 and 12, a total of 5.9 million passengers utilised various modes of public transport to celebrate Eid, marking the conclusion of Ramadan.
The Dubai Metro emerged as the primary choice for commuters, transporting 2.32 million passengers across its Red and Green lines during the three-day period, according to Arabian Business.
Furthermore, the Dubai Tram accommodated 115 thousand passengers, while public buses catered to 1.2 million riders. Marine services witnessed 416 thousand individuals utilising water transport.
Private hire vehicles also experienced considerable demand, with taxis ferrying 1.6 million passengers and shared mobility services such as ride-hailing apps serving 308,000 users.
