Mall of the Emirates will celebrate its 20th anniversary this September with a month-long series of events, as Majid Al Futtaim unveils a $1.36 billion transformation project.
The Dubai mall, which opened in 2005, is set for an AED 5 billion redevelopment, adding 20,000 square metres of retail space and 100 new stores.
As part of the revamp, New Covent Garden will be introduced, featuring a 600-seat theatre, alongside a wellness precinct, an indoor-outdoor district, and enhanced entertainment offerings.
Over the past two decades, Mall of the Emirates has become a pioneer with attractions like Ski Dubai, the region’s first indoor ski resort.
It has also hosted flagship fashion and lifestyle brands, seamlessly integrating retail with dining and entertainment.
Majid Al Futtaim, a leading developer in malls, communities, retail, and leisure across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, is positioning Mall of the Emirates as the “Mall of New Possibilities” for the future.
The anniversary celebrations will run through September, starting with the Global Runway Under the Fashion Dome on September 13.
THAT Concept Store will unveil its Fall/Winter 2025 collection between 4pm and 6pm, including an in-store runway, live DJ, juice bar, and grazing table, followed by a public showcase beneath the Fashion Dome.
From September 17 to 29, AllSaints will offer a free customisation lab pop-up, allowing visitors to personalise clothing with the anniversary logo or their own designs.
On September 20, the festivities will culminate with aerial dance troupe Bandaloop performing at 5pm and 6pm, using the mall’s architecture as their stage.
That same day, SHARE Rewards members will receive 20-times points for 24 hours.
The ambitious transformation underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to maintaining Mall of the Emirates as a global benchmark for lifestyle and leisure destinations.
