Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) issued a warning to motorists in the city about possible delays on roads on Saturday, March 25. This is due to the Dubai World Cup 2023 horse race and associated festivities that are set to take place at the Meydan Racecourse on the same day. As one of Dubai’s most high-profile sporting events, thousands of visitors are expected to attend.
To prepare for the influx of people and traffic, the RTA has advised motorists in the area to expect delays in their journeys. The RTA has also published a traffic warning on Twitter to inform motorists to anticipate traffic delays on specific roads, including Al Meydan St, Al Khail Road, and Al Ain Road. The RTA predicts these delays may occur between 1 pm and midnight on Saturday.
To help ease congestion during the event, the RTA has implemented public transport plans for visitors. To mitigate the anticipated delays, the RTA has advised motorists to plan their journeys and consider using alternative roads. Additionally, the RTA has released information regarding its operational plan to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Dubai World Cup 2023.
To reduce waiting times and facilitate journeys, the RTA plans to utilize 4,500 taxis. Furthermore, the RTA has designated 50 shuttle buses to transport people from the Meydan area to the Dubai Mall and Deira City Centre after the final race.
For those driving their own vehicles, the RTA has made available 5,000 parking spaces at the Falcon Heritage site and 6,400 spaces at the Meydan Racecourse parking lot. By providing ample parking spaces, the RTA hopes to encourage visitors to use their private vehicles and reduce the strain on public transportation.
