‘Healing with Compassion’ Initiative Extended Year-Round
A dedicated team of volunteer doctors and nursing staff continues to provide free medical check-ups and treatments every week for patients from various parts of the UAE. The humanitarian programme ‘Healing with Compassion,’ initiated by Tadawi Health Group in Dubai during last Ramadan, has decided to extend its services throughout the year. The initiative welcomes patients every Friday at Tadawi Health Centre in Deira, Dubai.
Since its launch, Tadawi Health Group has treated over 1,000 needy patients and continues to welcome more than 300 patients every Friday. The group has called upon licensed doctors and nursing staff, both Emiratis and expatriates, to join the initiative. Currently, there are five regular volunteer doctors involved, striving to provide medical examinations and medications to those who cannot afford them.
Dr. Shibny Basheer, a volunteer doctor from India who has been with Tadawi for over two years, shared her thoughts: “This initiative immediately captured my attention due to its profound mission of providing free treatment to those who are in need.”
She added: “I felt a deep sense of admiration for our hospital’s commitment to improving community health through such a compassionate initiative.” Dr. Basheer emphasized the personal and professional fulfillment she derives from contributing to the ‘Healing with Compassion’ programme: “It felt like a profound honour and a true blessing to know that I could play a part in making healthcare more accessible to individuals who might otherwise struggle to afford it.”
“I am supporting this initiative wholeheartedly, knowing that every effort contributes to a healthier and more inclusive community,” Dr. Basheer continued.
Making a Difference
Another volunteer doctor, Dr. Usman Khan, chose to engage in charity work to leverage his skills in making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. He expressed his desire to address health disparities and provide quality healthcare to needy patients.
He said: “The fulfillment and purpose derived from helping others in need is invaluable and motivates me to continue striving for excellence in my profession.”
‘Never Say No to Any Patient’
Clinic manager Rameshchand Balagovindan explained the initiative’s goals: “We launched this initiative to make a healthy society and provide healthcare for people who cannot afford it.”
He noted the large number of patients they receive every Friday, prompting the need for special appointments for certain cases.
“We decided to take a separate appointment for these cases because we also receive other patients and emergencies,” said Balagovindan, adding: “We never say no to any patient.”
