Dubai has launched a major infrastructure project, investing AED 696 million (around $190 million) to transform the iconic Trade Centre Roundabout into a central intersection. The redevelopment plan introduces five new bridges to improve traffic flow and accessibility across this crucial location, according to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The project is part of Dubai’s broader vision for sustainable urban infrastructure, expected to ease congestion and connect Sheikh Zayed Road with major business hubs in the city. Highlighting the significance of the project, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA, remarked, “This transformation is part of our commitment to improving urban infrastructure and easing traffic in vital areas.”
This iconic roundabout is a key point for commercial and commuter routes. Its revamp is intended to meet the rising demands of Dubai’s urban growth and accommodate a higher volume of vehicles efficiently.
The addition of interconnected bridges will allow for a more streamlined flow, alleviating pressure on surrounding road networks and reducing travel time for commuters and visitors.
By implementing this project, Dubai showcases its proactive approach to tackling urban congestion and planning for future infrastructure needs. The RTA’s new design will bring substantial improvements for residents and tourists alike, boosting connectivity and supporting economic activity in one of Dubai’s most pivotal areas.
Set for completion within a year, the redevelopment of the Trade Centre Roundabout marks a pivotal upgrade in Dubai’s infrastructure ambitions, reflecting the city’s commitment to future-ready urban planning.
Besides enhancing travel efficiency, this redevelopment will incorporate green spaces and pedestrian pathways, aligning with Dubai’s sustainable urban goals. The new design is set for completion within a year, positioning the area for smoother mobility and increased connectivity, making Dubai’s infrastructure more resilient to future demands.
