Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced two new marine transport routes serving Dubai Creek Harbour.
The first route operates between Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Festival City on weekends, while the second route connects Dubai Creek Harbour to Al Jaddaf Marine Transport Station and Al Khor Metro Station on weekdays.
The RTA and Emaar Properties have signed an agreement to develop these routes, aimed at linking tourist attractions in Dubai.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, and Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Executive Board Member of Emaar Properties, signed the agreement.
“The routes have been very successful in meeting public demand. This number has since increased to an average of 30,000 passengers per month this year, reflecting a remarkable 900 percent rise. This collaboration with the developer aims to improve the infrastructure by providing berths for various marine vessels and ticket kiosks to enhance customer satisfaction,” Bahrozyan said.
The collaboration includes upgrading infrastructure with berths for marine vessels and ticket kiosks.
“This initiative is expected to boost the number of marine transport users in the emirate, aligning with RTA’s Marine Transport Master Plan 2020–2030, which addresses the developer’s needs,” Bahrozyan added.
Al Matrooshi emphasised the significance of public-private collaboration
“The provision of suitable infrastructure in Emaar Properties’ sea-view developments facilitates public movement to and from these areas, making them more attractive. This is thanks to RTA’s marine transport services,” he said.
The RTA plans to continue enhancing marine transportation services through collaborations with real estate developers to meet the needs of residents and visitors.
