In the World’s Best Cities report 2023, published by a renowned international advisor in tourism, real estate, and economic growth, Dubai was named first globally and the fifth-best city overall.
The Resonance Consultancy ranks global cities, or those with a population of one million or more, using a combination of statistical performance and qualitative assessments by residents and visitors in 24 areas divided into six core categories: place, product, programming, prosperity, people, and promotion. When weather, safety, landmarks, and outdoor activities were taken into consideration, Dubai came out on top.
President and CEO of Resonance Consultancy Chris Fair noted the “torrent of city-building” that has occurred in Dubai during the last 24 months. The article praised Dubai as a seductive fusion of extravagant activities, Arab heritage, and upscale shopping.
According to the study, Dubai is a city of superlatives where visitors may take an elevator to the top of the tallest skyscraper in the world for a bird’s-eye view and wager on horses at the costliest horse race in the world. The report highlights several of Dubai’s landmarks and attractions, including Deep Dive Dubai, the world’s deepest pool, the Dubai Mall, the Burj Khalifa, the Museum of the Future, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Dubai Creek, The Palm, Ain Dubai, Cityland Mall, and the Aura Skypool, the first and tallest 360-degree infinity pool.
London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Dubai, Barcelona, Rome, Madrid, Singapore, and Amsterdam round out the top 10 cities in the overall rankings across all categories. Doha came in at number 27, followed by Abu Dhabi. The capital of the UAE came in fifth place, while the capital of Qatar ranked first in the measure of prosperity. “Abu Dhabi is quietly putting its attention on its legacy and a rich cultural tapestry, while Dubai boasts the biggest, tallest, and most costly items in the world.

Last year, both cities placed among the top 20.
Extensive research was done on the rise of cities, the major trends driving their growth, and the elements influencing the perception of urban centres as desirable places to live, work, visit, and invest in a new global reality in order to build a list of the 100 finest cities.
