More than AED37.32 million ($10.16 million) was raised in a recent premium number plate auction held by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The 110th open auction of RTA was held at Grand Hyatt Dubai. WAM reported that the highest bid of AED4.42 million ($1.2 million) was received for Plate No AA 13. This was followed by Plate No U 70, which was sold for AED3 million ($820,000).
Plate No Z 1000 was purchased for AED2.21 million ($570,000), while Plate No V 99999 went under the hammer for AED1.26 million ($340,000).
RTA offered 90 fancy plates for bidding in this auction comprising of two, three, four and five-digit plates.
The Q 22 licence plate sold for Dh5 million ($1.36 million) at the 108th Open Auction in December of last year. A public auction held in April of this year brought in Dh53 million for Dubai’s One Billion Meals initiative. A Dh35 million ($9.53 million) bid was made for plate No. AA 8.
