Dubai introduces a comprehensive program, aligning with the Social Agenda 33, to provide benefits and incentives for retired Emirati government employees and those nearing retirement.
As a component of Dubai’s Social Agenda 33, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, within the theme “Family: The Foundation of Our Nation,” the Dubai Police General Command and Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, represented by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises (Dubai SME), have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce the “Dubai Retiree Projects Support” program.
The scheme provides Emirati retirees in Dubai with perks and incentives, including priority assignment to government projects, financing for their future ventures, a five-year exemption from service fees, and advisory support for their projects to ensure optimal returns.
Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police and Member of the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs in Dubai, and Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, signed the MoU.
Dubai’s Unified Commitment to Social and Financial Stability
The agreement signifies joint efforts to ensure the mental, social, and financial stability of retirees and those nearing retirement, aligning with the goals of Dubai Social Agenda 33 to establish an active and proactive social system that provides protection and empowerment.
Operated under the Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs, the program aims to back projects initiated by retirees through the Mohammed bin Rashid Fund for SME, in line with Dubai Social Agenda 33’s objective of transforming Dubai into an SME hub.
Targeting existing retirees and those approaching retirement, the Dubai Retiree Project Support program aims to leverage the expertise of these groups to contribute to Dubai’s development, offering additional job opportunities and creating a council for retirees to facilitate communication.
Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri emphasized that the program aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to improve the quality of life for citizens and enhance well-being and family stability.
Empowering Retirees: Dubai’s Innovative Program Transforms Knowledge into Economic Opportunities
Helal Al Marri highlighted that the program transforms retirees’ knowledge into investment and development opportunities, supporting Dubai’s economy sustainability, innovation, and diversity. The Department of Economy and Tourism aims to encourage retirees to engage in entrepreneurship, utilizing their experience for economic sustainability.
Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME, emphasized the program’s alignment with leadership directives to support retirees, offering incentives and benefits such as financing, training, and technical consultation to inspire retirees to be partners in Dubai’s development projects.
Retired citizens and those approaching retirement can apply for the Dubai Retiree Projects Support program through Dubai SME, receiving priority in government projects and bids. The Dubai Police General Command launches a database to monitor retirees’ expertise, facilitating services matching their experience, according to WAM.
The program offers consultations for retirees to plan their next phase, exemption from service fees for five years to ease their financial burden, and collaboration with private sector companies. The initiative joins others aimed at ensuring retirees’ stability, utilizing their expertise, and fostering social and national solidarity.
