Dubai Municipality, on February 4, unveiled the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030 at the World Governments Summit, outlining a strategic vision to deliver a more balanced and integrated urban ecosystem. The announcement was made in the presence of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
The roadmap includes projects valued at more than AED4 billion and positions nature as a core element of urban infrastructure. By 2030, it aims to enhance access to parks, beaches, coastlines and recreational facilities, improving quality of life and urban resilience.
Key targets include planting around 1.5 million trees, delivering more than 45 landscaping projects, and adding 120 new parks covering nearly 3 million square metres. The plan also integrates 200 sports and recreational spaces into green networks, aligned with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the roadmap advances a people-centric urban model that strengthens sustainability, liveability and long-term growth.
