The Ministry of Finance convened the Financial Media Forum today under the theme “Government Financial Data,” aiming to strengthen partnerships with media outlets and highlight the crucial role of financial data in raising public awareness. The forum reflects the Ministry’s commitment to fostering dialogue with the media, recognizing their integral role in informing the public about economic and financial trends in the UAE.
The forum comes at a time of significant economic and financial growth for the UAE, and is part of ongoing efforts to provide financial journalists with modern tools to interpret complex fiscal data. Attendees included Azza Ali Aljassmi, Director of Government Communication at the Ministry of Finance, Abeer Ali Al Abdooli, Director of Macroeconomic Fiscal Policy, as well as financial journalists and experts.
Azza Ali Aljassmi emphasized that media plays a key role in communicating the government’s financial policies and maintaining transparency, especially as the UAE strengthens its position as a competitive global economy. “Media is a strategic partner in achieving sustainable development,” she said, underscoring the Ministry’s dedication to sharing accurate financial information with the public.
The forum served as an interactive platform for journalists, enabling them to gain insights into the UAE’s fiscal policy priorities. Key focus areas included sustainable development, improving government financial operations, and reinforcing the UAE’s global standing in the financial sector.
One of the event highlights was the launch of the Ministry’s new electronic portal, designed to provide journalists with easy access to financial data, statistics, and reports.
This tool is expected to enhance the quality of financial reporting and increase transparency.
A session titled “Government Data and Public Financial Awareness,” presented by Sahel Al Rousan, Senior Economic Advisor, discussed how government financial data can shape media narratives that benefit the public. The presentation underscored the importance of accurate financial reporting in strengthening public trust.
Additionally, the forum featured a session on “Utilizing Financial Data,” which included key experts such as Ahmed Al Abdouli, Head of the Macro Fiscal Policy Coordination Department; Shaikha Al Hammadi, Acting Head of the Government Revenue Control Department; and Shaikha Al Shamsi, Financial Analyst in the Public Debt Management Office. The discussion focused on how financial data informs policy-making and how specialized financial statistics can be effectively communicated to the public.
In his presentation on “Government Financial Data and Statistics,” Ahmed Al Abdouli provided insights into key statistics that reflect government performance and efforts to enhance transparency in media reporting.
