Dubai Police has announced plans to establish the Middle East’s first floating Smart Police Station (SPS) by the end of 2026. This innovative facility will provide round-the-clock, fully automated services without requiring human intervention, showcasing Dubai’s commitment to leveraging technology for public service. The floating SPS is part of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s AED 2 billion strategic projects initiative.
The station is designed to offer 27 essential services, including the filing of criminal and traffic reports, lost item claims, and requests for certificates and permits. Additionally, it will feature 33 supplementary services in six languages, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for diverse users. The use of artificial intelligence and robotics will streamline operations, aiming to reduce footfall at traditional police centres.
Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Tamimi, Director of the Assets and Facilities Department at Dubai Police, highlighted the station’s focus on maritime accessibility. “The floating SPS will ensure advanced, world-class services at sea, catering to yacht owners and water sports enthusiasts. This initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision of becoming the world’s smartest and happiest city,” he said. The station’s design facilitates seamless boarding and disembarking for vessels, reflecting its maritime functionality.
This project complements Dubai Police’s existing Smart Police Station formats, such as drive-thru and walk-in stations. It aligns with their goal of enhancing community safety, improving the quality of life, and supporting Dubai’s broader vision of becoming a global innovation hub.
Beyond security, the floating SPS represents a milestone in smart infrastructure and sustainability. By integrating cutting-edge technology, Dubai Police aims to set a benchmark for modern policing. The initiative also aligns with Dubai’s reputation for pioneering advancements in public services, offering a futuristic model that could inspire similar projects globally.
As Dubai continues to attract global attention for its innovative projects, this floating SPS underscores its dedication to combining technological progress with community well-being. The station will cater to both residents and visitors, enhancing security, accessibility, and convenience in maritime environments.
