The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy announced that it successfully attracted 101 innovative digital startups to the emirate in the first nine months of the year. This achievement is in line with the chamber’s commitment to bolstering Dubai’s digital economy and supporting the objectives outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, as well as Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, highlighted the ongoing efforts to draw leading digital companies and top tech talent to Dubai.
The chamber’s initiatives aim to solidify Dubai’s status as a global digital economy hub, with a focus on empowering the private sector as a crucial driver of sustainable economic growth. Al Olama emphasized the chamber’s dedication to creating a conducive business environment that fosters the success of emerging digital companies and talent. Efforts are underway to establish an integrated ecosystem that attracts digital enterprises and encourages entrepreneurs to establish their businesses in the city.
Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy’s Global Initiatives and Local Impact in Q3 2023
During the nine-month period from January to September, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy conducted 24 roadshows and business trips across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. These efforts included coordinating business meetings with 554 companies, ranging from multinationals to SMEs, startups, and scaleups. These engagements provided a platform to showcase Dubai’s substantial growth potential and the advantages of conducting business in the emirate.
In Q3 2023, the chamber launched impactful programs and initiatives, including the inauguration of the Emirati Training Academy as part of the “Create Apps in Dubai” initiative. This initiative aims to train over 1,000 Emiratis in mobile application development and business models, supporting the government’s goal to triple the number of app developers in the Emirates by 2025.
Furthermore, the chamber organized workshops dedicated to specific sectors within the digital economy, addressing challenges and fostering a thriving ecosystem. The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy published two in-depth reports on the startup ecosystem and the city’s venture capital. Additionally, Arabian Business reports that the chamber welcomed a delegation of 21 Palestinian startups for the first-ever business matching meeting, resulting in 237 B2B meetings.
