Dubai Duty Free has begun 2026 on a strong note after recording its highest-ever January sales, with revenue reaching $235 million, underscoring continued momentum in global travel retail.
The January performance ranks as the retailer’s third-best month on record, surpassed only by December and November 2025, reflecting sustained passenger demand and robust consumer spending at Dubai International Airport.
The month’s strongest trading day was January 31, when sales peaked at approximately $9.8 million, highlighting heightened activity during the busy travel period.
Commenting on the results, Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Ramesh Cidambi said the strong start to the year builds on the success of 2025 and signals encouraging prospects for the months ahead, supported by consistent passenger traffic.
Sales growth was driven by standout performances across several categories. Gold recorded the highest increase, rising by more than 45 per cent, while fashion and electronics also posted strong double-digit growth, reinforcing demand for high-value products.
Other key segments, including perfumes, cosmetics, watches and confectionery, delivered solid year-on-year gains, contributing to a well-balanced sales mix during the month.
From a regional perspective, Europe and Russia led sales growth, followed by increased contributions from Africa, the Americas, the Indian subcontinent, the Far East and the Middle East, reflecting Dubai’s diverse international passenger base.
