Due to falling fuel prices, Dubai taxi charges have been slashed for a second time; before October, prices had also dropped. The per-kilometer charge has decreased by 22 fils due to the new price update. As a result, the rate per kilometer has decreased from AED2.19 to AED1.97, making a 20-kilometer taxi ride AED4.40 less expensive.
The pricing adjustments take effect right away. According to a report by Emarat Al Youm, Adel Shakri, Director of the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority, disclosed the authority’s plan to lower the taxi fare in Dubai.
Shakri also stressed that “the authority is keen to take into account the needs and demands of passengers, pointing out that it reviews the fees for the cost of taxis at a rate of every two months to ensure that they keep pace with all other variable factors that affect their prices,” according to Arabian Business. To make sure that the tariff is in line with gasoline prices as well as the needs of taxi clients, he continued, the RTA would continue to monitor and analyse the situation during the ensuing period.
