The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, part of the Dubai Chambers network, announced it supported 215 high-potential digital startups in the first half of 2024. This marks a 212% increase from the 69 companies supported during the same period last year, with the total market value of these startups reaching approximately USD 7B.
In the first half of 2024, the chamber trained 243 Emiratis through the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and led by the chamber.
The chamber also organised 12 international roadshows to promote Expand North Star, the world’s largest startup and investor gathering, set to take place in October.
Additionally, the chamber participated in 15 local and international events, furthering its role as an organiser and strategic partner.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, stated that the chamber aims to solidify Dubai’s global digital economy status, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to generate AED 100B annually through digital projects.
‘Create Apps in Dubai’ aims to train 1,000 Emiratis and triple Dubai’s app developers by 2025, supporting 100 new national mobile app projects.
The chamber signed four MoUs to enhance Dubai’s digital ecosystem, including a partnership with Enterprise Ireland. It also published reports on scaleup success rates in Dubai and the FDI landscape in MENA.
