Dubai is stepping up its transition to clean mobility as the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) expands its EV Green Charger network to accommodate the growing number of electric vehicles across the emirate.
Electric vehicle registrations in Dubai reached 47,944 by the end of 2025, rising from 37,486 a year earlier and reflecting strong year-on-year growth. The Green Charger initiative has also recorded a sharp increase in registered users, expanding from just 14 in 2015 to approximately 23,600 by mid-January 2026. Meanwhile, the charging network has grown to more than 1,860 points across the city.
DEWA’s leadership has underscored that the continued rollout of charging infrastructure aligns with Dubai’s broader sustainability agenda, reinforcing its ambition to position itself as a global benchmark for green mobility while encouraging greater EV adoption among residents and businesses.
Since its launch in 2014, the Green Charger programme has supplied more than 55,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, enabling electric vehicles to travel hundreds of millions of kilometres, demonstrating the tangible progress made in advancing low-emission transport solutions in Dubai.
