Dubai received 3.67M overnight guests in January-February 2024, marking an increase of more than 18 per cent compared to the previous year, as per data disclosed by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
The DET’s Tourism Performance Report for January-February 2024 indicated that Dubai saw 1.77M international arrivals in January and 1.9M in February.
Europe topped the list of visitor origins during January-February 2024, with 773,000 tourists, constituting 21 per cent of the total, according to Arabian Business.
Following closely, South Asia accounted for 604,000 visitors (17 per cent), while Gulf Cooperation Council countries trailed with 549,000 visitors (15 per cent).
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe contributed 530,000 visitors (14 per cent), securing the fourth spot, whereas the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region ranked fifth with 448,000 visitors (12 per cent).
In addition, Dubai welcomed 340,000 visitors (9 per cent) from North and Southeast Asia, 240,000 (7 per cent) from the Americas, 138,000 (4 per cent) from Africa, and 53,000 from Australia, constituting around 1 per cent.
The report also revealed a rise in the number of available hotel rooms from 148,450 spread across 813 establishments in January-February 2023 to 151,269 across 826 establishments in the same period of 2024.
The average occupancy rate reached 87 per cent, marking a 3 per cent increase year-on-year.
Occupied room nights increased to 7.78M compared to 7.28M in the corresponding period last year, with an average stay duration of 3.8 nights in January-February 2024.
