Developers announced on Friday their plans to construct the first-ever Dragon Ball theme park in Qiddiya, Saudi Arabia. Covering a vast expanse of 500,000 square meters within Qiddiya, the prominent tourist attraction will showcase more than 30 rides inspired by the Dragon Ball franchise.
Taking inspiration from the popular Japanese comic, film, and gaming universe, this expansive attraction signifies a significant milestone as the world’s premier Dragon Ball theme park.
The beloved franchise, which revolves around the adventures of martial artist Goku, made its debut in Japan in 1984 and has since become a global phenomenon, with its films, games, and TV shows reaching audiences worldwide.
As part of a broader strategy to position Saudi Arabia as a leading destination for tourism and entertainment, the Qiddiya theme park will feature seven distinct zones, offering innovative attractions like a 70-meter-high dragon rollercoaster and Dragon Ball-themed accommodation and dining options.
Qiddiya has revealed ambitious plans for various high-profile entertainment projects across Saudi Arabia, including a cutting-edge motorsports track, a picturesque concert stadium, a groundbreaking gaming district, a high-speed rollercoaster, and the largest waterpark in the Middle East, according to Arabian Business.
This announcement follows Qiddiya’s long-term strategic partnership with Toei Animation, Japan’s premier animation studio responsible for the creation of Dragon Ball, with the aim of preserving and enhancing the franchise’s legacy through immersive experiences that fulfill visitors’ desires to interact with Dragon Ball in the real world.
