DMCC, Dubai’s free zone and Government Authority on commodities trade, has launched the DMCC AI Centre, a new platform aimed at promoting the practical adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and developing scalable AI applications across the MENA region.
At the launch event, DMCC briefed over 60 guests, including Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, Dr Marwan Alzarouni, Chief AI Officer at Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, ambassadors, and AI industry leaders, on the centre’s services and benefits.
Belhoul highlighted the UAE’s goal to become a global AI leader by 2031, as part of the National Strategy for AI. He described the centre as a key milestone in positioning Dubai as a global hub for AI innovation and emerging technologies.
The centre is already home to over 50 AI and robotics companies, including major names like AMD, Autel Robotics, and HIKVISION. Key partners include Builder.ai, which will help DMCC members create AI-powered apps, and AGCC, which will lead accelerator programmes.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, noted AI’s potential to contribute over US$15 trillion to the global economy by 2030 and emphasised the centre’s role in attracting new AI providers. Sachin Dev Duggal, CEO of Builder.ai, expressed excitement about the collaboration, aiming to drive AI-powered growth across Dubai and the MENA region.
