The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has set a new benchmark in sustainability with its Accommodation Complex in Warsan receiving the prestigious LEED Platinum Rating from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). This recognition marks the first multifamily project globally to attain this level of certification, achieving 80 points under LEED Homes v4.1.
This milestone contributes to DEWA’s portfolio of ten LEED-certified buildings, reinforcing its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting Dubai’s goal of becoming a smart, sustainable city as outlined in the ‘Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033.’
Key Features of the Complex:
- Water Savings: Achieves 61% water savings.
- Energy Savings: Attains 28% energy savings.
- Renewable Energy: Generates 10% of its energy needs from renewable sources.
- Environmentally Friendly Materials: Uses low volatile organic compounds (Low VOC) materials and furniture certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
