Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has introduced DEWA’s strategic roadmap to become the world’s first AI-native utility, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) across all key operations. The announcement was made during GenAI Week, an event organised by DEWA to explore AI adoption within the organisation.
The event brought together DEWA experts and representatives from leading AI companies, including Microsoft, IBM, ServiceNow, and DataRobot, to discuss AI-driven transformation. The four-day conference at DEWA’s headquarters featured workshops, panel discussions, and interactive lectures covering topics such as deep learning, AI neural networks, and automation. DEWA also outlined its AI transformation strategy, focusing on enhancing productivity, improving decision-making, streamlining administrative processes, and developing innovative services.
Al Tayer emphasised that this initiative aligns with the UAE’s vision to lead in AI adoption, ensuring DEWA remains at the forefront of digital advancements. He highlighted DEWA’s commitment to embedding AI across its operations, boosting efficiency and fostering innovation. This strategy supports the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, positioning the nation as a global AI leader.
DEWA aims to empower its workforce with AI expertise through strategic partnerships with global technology leaders. Employees will receive advanced training to enhance performance and efficiency while integrating Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.
The GenAI Week exhibition showcased DEWA’s AI-driven applications, including Rammas at Work, which supports various divisions such as power generation, water management, human resources, and legal affairs. DEWA has also implemented AI enhancements in its Khadamatech e-services portal, IT support, governance, and security policies. These advancements serve as a foundation for DEWA’s broader AI transformation, as outlined in its strategic roadmap.
