Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has formed a strategic partnership with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a leading global organisation in electric power research and development. This collaboration will focus on advancing areas such as renewable energy, grid modernisation, energy storage solutions, and more.
EPRI will offer a variety of training programmes for DEWA’s employees, covering smart grids, energy efficiency, distribution asset management, cyber security, renewable systems, and data analytics. The aim is to strengthen DEWA’s workforce and enhance their role in shaping a sustainable future.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, expressed support for the vision of Dubai’s leadership to establish the city as a global hub for clean energy and green economy. He highlighted the importance of DEWA’s employees in the authority’s achievements and success, stressing the need for continuous development through collaboration with leading research and innovation centres.
Al Tayer further noted that this partnership aligns with DEWA’s efforts to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and its vision to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. He emphasised the importance of providing a positive work environment that nurtures innovation, development, and the empowerment of Emirati talent to lead in climate action and the energy transition.
Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of EPRI, stated that the success of the clean energy transition depends on collective efforts to tackle both current and future challenges. He expressed excitement about working with DEWA to drive innovation in achieving a reliable, affordable, and equitable clean energy transformation.
