Eleven leading UAE e-commerce retailers and platforms have partnered with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology by signing the Compliance Pledge, a major initiative aimed at improving the quality and safety of online products.
This pledge ensures that products on these platforms meet the UAE’s strict standards and technical regulations. By adhering to high safety and security levels, these platforms are enhancing consumer trust and promoting a safer shopping experience.
The pledge was signed in Dubai on Monday, with representatives from Amazon, Noon, Al-Futtaim Group (IKEA, Ace Hardware, Watsons, Toys ‘R’ Us, Marks & Spencer), Nikai Group, Electronics, Jacky’s Retail, Lulu International Group, Al Ghandi Electronics, Sharaf DG, Al Yousuf Electronics, and Samsung present.
Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, stated, “The Compliance Pledge aims to elevate the quality and safety of online products. It is a significant step towards the goals of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology. We appreciate the participation of these platforms and encourage all partners to help enhance product quality and safety.”
He added, “This initiative shows the strong cooperation between the government and private sector in the UAE, aimed at offering safer and better-quality products.
The pledge supports the growth of the e-commerce sector, with sales projected to rise from US$2.6 billion in 2019 to US$9.2 billion by 2026. The ministry promotes compliance with all laws and regulations, conducting monitoring and awareness campaigns and facilitating product recalls through the Manaa System and the National Product Conformity Program.
