The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has released special gold and silver coins to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI).
On the front of the gold coin is an image of MBZUAI’s Knowledge Centre, flanked by the dates “2020” and “2025” to signify the institution’s five‑year journey.
The coin’s design carries the phrase “Power from Knowledge to Serve,” encircled by the university’s name in both Arabic and English and accompanied by its emblem.
On the reverse side is the UAE’s national emblem, surrounded by the words “Central Bank of the UAE” in both Arabic and English.
Similarly, the silver coin’s front shows the Knowledge Centre and the span “2020–2025,” embellished with detailed geometric patterns and framed by the university’s name in Arabic and English plus its official logo.
The back of the silver coin displays its face value of “Dh50,” encircled by the inscription “Central Bank of the UAE” in both languages.
The limited release consists of 10 gold and 500 silver coins, each weighing 50 g. Issued as part of MBZUAI’s fifth‑anniversary festivities, the coins honour the university’s leadership in AI, science and technology and underscore the UAE’s position as an innovation hub.
All of the commemorative coins have been presented to MBZUAI and won’t be offered for sale by the Central Bank or the university.
Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor for Banking Operations and Support Services at the Central Bank, stated that issuing these coins showcases the UAE’s dedication to celebrating educational milestones and acknowledges MBZUAI’s contribution as a specialised academic institution advancing the nation’s knowledge‑ and innovation‑driven economy.
Eric Xing, MBZUAI’s President, said the Central Bank’s commemorative issue is a significant acknowledgment of the university’s strategic impact.
Marking its fifth year, the university is proud to contribute to the UAE’s integration of AI into national priorities, and views the honour as a symbolic link between the country’s heritage and its technological future.
