UAE multi-service platform Careem is on the verge of introducing a groundbreaking AI feature to its DineOut service, aimed at simplifying food discovery in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This innovation was exclusively revealed by the company’s Managing Director to Arabian Business.
The upcoming AI enhancement is poised to transform how users interact with the DineOut service, which helps consumers locate top restaurants in the cities.
“Today, you go into the app, you can discover restaurants based on a view, cuisine, or location,” explained Bassel Al Nahlaoui, the company’s managing director. “We’re saying, why don’t you open this app and start talking to it and say ‘Hey, what’s the best burger in town?’ or ‘What’s the best vegan burger in town?’ and then, it should give you a couple of these options directly.”
Designed to eliminate the need for manual searches, this new conversational AI feature will enable customers to find their desired food options more efficiently. Al Nahlaoui discussed this innovation during an interview on the AB Majlis podcast.
Simplified Food Discovery with AI
Careem’s new AI chat function within the DineOut service is part of a broader strategy to personalize user experiences and make app interactions more tailored to individual needs.
While a specific launch date was not provided, Al Nahlaoui suggested that users should “keep an eye out for this [over the] next six to 12 months,” indicating a rollout in the near future.
Careem’s Continued AI Advancements
This AI integration represents a significant leap for Careem, although the company is no stranger to advanced technologies. For several years, Careem has been utilizing AI for various purposes, including fraud prevention, dispatch optimization, and personalization. However, the DineOut AI feature will be one of Careem’s first direct AI interactions with customers.
This development is a major milestone in Careem’s evolution from a ride-hailing app to an “everything app” designed to simplify daily life for millions across the region.
