According to supply chain sources, Apple is reportedly contemplating the release of foldable iPads, extending its foldable technology efforts from smartphones to the tablet market. The move adds weight to previous rumors surrounding the creation of a foldable iPad. Renowned Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, had previously projected a potential 2024 release for the device, featuring an all-new design and a lightweight yet sturdy carbon fiber kickstand.
A foldable iPad, similar to foldable smartphones by Samsung and Google, would incorporate a hinge, allowing it to be opened and closed like a book, resulting in a considerably larger display when unfolded. Notably, such a device is expected to be priced higher than the existing 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which starts at $1,099.
While Apple has yet to introduce any devices with foldable displays, speculations indicate the company is exploring various options, including foldable iPhones, iPads, and Macs in the future. Meanwhile, the first-ever 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models to utilize OLED displays are slated for mass production in Q1 2024, offering enhanced brightness, contrast ratio, color accuracy, and lower power consumption compared to LCD screens.
