The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has partnered with Amazon UAE to launch the DET x Amazon Accelerator, aimed at supporting the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Dubai and enhancing their global competitiveness.
This programme offers SMEs advanced digital tools, resources, and mentorship to accelerate their digital transformation and expand their international reach. The accelerator is part of the Dubai Traders initiative, one of ten key projects under the D33 Economic Agenda, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai.
Through partnerships with private companies and digital solutions providers, Dubai Traders will help SMEs strengthen their online presence, digitise supply chains, expand into e-commerce, and access new markets.
Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of DET, and Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon for the Middle East, attended the signing ceremony where Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation, and Jasmin Frick, Director of Seller Success at Amazon MENA, formalised the agreement.
The DET x Amazon Accelerator leverages Amazon’s 25 years of global expertise, focusing on global expansion, digital skills, and expert guidance to help SMEs scale. SMEs will also benefit from enhanced brand visibility through Amazon’s “Shop Local” feature and marketing support through Amazon Ads credits.
Ronaldo Mouchawar highlighted the programme’s role in advancing the D33 agenda and supporting SMEs, aiming to have 100,000 businesses selling on Amazon.ae by 2026.
This collaboration exemplifies the synergy between Dubai’s government and the private sector, using Amazon’s global expertise to help local SMEs thrive on the international stage.
