The Ajman Department of Tourism Development is focused on promoting Ajman’s unique attractions as a leading travel destination in the UAE. To achieve this, the department implements global tourism campaigns, participates in events, regulates the tourism industry, and improves the services provided by local tourism facilities and businesses.
The Department has been recently showcasing its leading strategic plans at the Berlin Travel Trade Show (ITB), the world’s leading travel trade show, taking place in the German capital Berlin from the 7th until 9th of March. During its participation in the exhibition, the Department entered into several memorandums of understanding with the objective of enhancing the emirate’s tourism potential and investment opportunities.
Ajman Tourism’s objective in participating is to exhibit its newest tourism ventures and highlight the emirate’s sophisticated infrastructure, as well as inform visitors about its primary tourism initiatives and exceptional services. In this regard, the department intends to emphasize the popular attractions and tourist spots, which span from prominent landmarks such as unspoiled beaches, rugged mountains, and natural reserves, to upscale hotels along the coastline, and the rich cultural diversity, such as museums, historic sites, and local markets.
To this end, the Ajman Department of Tourism Development and Bespoke Modular Solutions & RAW Hotels & Resorts, a prominent company offering modular products and services as well as hotel management in the Middle East, signed a memorandum of understanding. It was signed by His Excellency Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, the Director General of the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, and Jamal Wick, the CEO and Co-Founder of Bespoke Modular Solutions & RAW Hotels & Resorts.
The main objective of this MOU is to create investment prospects that will improve the tourism sector in Ajman. Furthermore, it endeavors to strengthen the means of collaboration between the parties and harmonize their collective endeavors in boosting the allure of the destination. As per the terms of the MOU, both entities will endeavor to entice investors to invest in tourism-related undertakings within the emirate. Additionally, they will concentrate their efforts on promoting the Raw Resort Alzorah beach project.
In spite of the worldwide political and economic challenges encountered in the year 2022, the tourism sector in Ajman made remarkable strides, as indicated by a 9% increase in the overall revenue generated in the hospitality industry, a 26% upsurge in international visitors, and a 14% increase in the average room rates in comparison with the previous year. As per the STR reports, Ajman attained the topmost rank in terms of hotel occupancy rate in the UAE during 2022, averaging 80%, which was 7% higher than the closest emirate.
H.E. Alhashmi remarked: “ITB constitutes an important opportunity to promote Ajman’s leading position on the global trade and tourism map and which comes in line with the country’s national agenda to boost the economic and tourism sectors. This year, we aim to focus on highlighting the attractiveness of the destination with its remarkable features and potentials which have transformed the emirate into a preferred destination for tourists”.
He added that Ajman’s exceptional offerings and services have drawn a multitude of visitors from various parts of the globe, and they are dedicated to continuing their endeavors in launching additional initiatives and projects that attract more tourists from diverse markets to Ajman. His Excellency also emphasized the significance of the German market and other European markets as crucial sources of tourism for Ajman. Moreover, he expressed a desire to strengthen the emirate’s connections with its global partners and enhance collaboration with other exhibitors via novel agreements and partnerships.
Over the past few years, Ajman has made substantial investments in bolstering its infrastructure, promoting notable projects, and developing crucial regions, transforming it into a compelling destination for tourism that provides visitors with a distinctive cultural, natural, and recreational experience.
