ADIPEC 2024, one of the world’s most influential energy events, concluded with a resounding success, announcing over $10 billion in cross-sector deals and recording the highest attendance in its 40-year history. The energy conference showcased a powerful global gathering of industry leaders, policymakers, and experts committed to driving sustainable and transformative energy progress.
Held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), ADIPEC 2024 attracted 205,139 participants from 172 countries, marking a notable increase of over 20,000 attendees compared to the previous year. The event underscored Abu Dhabi’s pivotal role in shaping the global energy landscape, presenting new opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and socioeconomic growth.
The four-day conference featured a robust program with four new thematic sessions, including technology and AI, finance, youth engagement, and voices from the Global South. Across 370 sessions, over 1,800 international speakers, including 40 government ministers, addressed critical issues and collaborative strategies to enhance economic opportunities worldwide.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, emphasized the importance of leveraging key trends during his address. “Unlocking the transformative potential of the rise of the Global South, AI advancements, and energy system transformations is imperative for global progress,” he noted.
Chair of ADIPEC 2024 and ADNOC Offshore CEO Tayba Al Hashemi praised the milestone edition, stating: “The record-breaking 40th edition of ADIPEC has successfully convened the leading minds across multiple industries and geographies to drive value creation opportunities and innovative solutions to shape a more sustainable energy future. With a dedicated focus on the transformative potential of AI, ADIPEC has provided a global platform to unlock the economic opportunities that can be realised by collaborating across sectors. We will build on this momentum as we look forward to an even more impactful ADIPEC in November 2025.”
Key announcements at ADIPEC included ADNOC Drilling’s acquisition of a 95% stake in Deep Well Services for $223 million, TA’ZIZ awarding over $2 billion for infrastructure at Al Ruwais Industrial City, and a $490 million contract between BGP Inc. and ADNOC to expand a massive 3D seismic survey in Abu Dhabi. Additional deals highlighted advancements in LNG production, carbon capture, and clean hydrogen initiatives.
In a first for the conference, ADIPEC 2024 introduced an AI Zone to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and energy, illustrating how AI can enhance efficiency and reduce emissions. The Finance and Investment Conference also debuted, offering leaders across sectors a platform to discuss equitable financing frameworks for a sustainable energy transition.
Shri Hardeep S Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stressed the need for a balanced approach in global energy transitions. “Energy is the spinal cord of an economy. When we talk about the global south, we sometimes forget where the global south is and what issues they have to face. In order for us to make the transition, we have to leverage the tools currently at our disposal and invest in the future. We have to make sure that they coexist harmoniously with green energy, because our people need affordable fuels.”
The next edition of ADIPEC, set for November 3-6, 2025, aims to build upon this year’s successes, continuing to unite the energy sector in decarbonisation efforts and fostering critical discussions that shape a sustainable future.
