The sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum (ADSFF) will be hosted by Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).
ADSFF will take place on December 4, which is the thematic day focused on ‘Finance, Trade, and Gender Equality’ during COP28, held from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City in Dubai.
The event is a collaboration with Masdar and is part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), which coincides with the same day, according to Arabian Business.
ADSFF 2023 Themes: Green Capital, Innovation, Carbon, Climate
This year’s ADSFF will revolve around four main themes: strengthening green capital markets, financing innovation, carbon markets, and promoting an impartial climate transition.
Notable speakers scheduled for the event include Prince Khaled bin Al Waleed Al Saud, Michael Mainelli, and the Lord Mayor of the City of London, along with participants from ADGM’s regulatory arm, including Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) CEO Emmanuel Givanakis and key entities within ADGM.
Salem Mohammed Al Darei, CEO of ADGM Authority, expressed, “ADGM’s vision of positioning Abu Dhabi as not only the ‘Capital of Capital’ but also a ‘Capital of Green Capital’ will be prominently featured during ADSFF at COP28 this year. Our commitment to developing a ‘Climate Finance’ ecosystem is evident through our initiatives, including the establishment of the region’s first robust regulatory framework for sustainable finance and collaborations with key institutions across Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and beyond as we continue to work towards closing the capital gap for climate transition.”
ADGM consistently hosts ecosystem development platforms like Abu Dhabi Finance Week (ADFW) and the R.A.C.E. (Regulation, Awareness, Collaboration, Ecosystem) Sustainability Summit at ADFW, contributing to the growth of the green finance sector in the region.
Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, stated, “Masdar is pleased to partner with Abu Dhabi Global Market to host this important forum once again as part of the special edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week at COP28.”
In recent news, the Registration Authority (RA) of ADGM officially released the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Foundations Regulations 2023. This represents a significant step in advancing regulatory frameworks for digital assets in the region and on an international scale. The new legislative structure aims to provide a comprehensive framework for DLT Foundations and decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs), accommodating the unique requirements of the blockchain industry.
