AD Ports Group has announced a new collaboration with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), to explore joint initiatives in transport, infrastructure, and logistics digitalisation across the EEU region.
Partnership to Advance Infrastructure and Digital Integration
The collaboration plan was formalised by Arzybek Kozhoshev, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure at the EEC, and Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group. The agreement outlines areas of mutual interest, including the acceleration of knowledge exchange, the establishment of logistics hubs, and the digital transformation of transport networks.
Minister Kozhoshev highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating:
“Deepening cooperation in transport and infrastructure with a world-class partner such as AD Ports Group represents an important step in expanding international logistics ties for the Eurasian Economic Union. This collaboration will serve as a catalyst for the growth of our relationship with the UAE, bringing mutual economic benefits.”
Expanding Regional Logistics and Investment Opportunities
As part of the agreement, both parties will examine opportunities to standardise electronic documentation, enhance digital systems, and attract investment for new infrastructure projects. AD Ports Group will also explore potential investments in logistics hubs and seaport terminals within EEU member states, while supporting digital integration efforts across non-member markets.
Captain Al Shamisi emphasised the strategic value of the partnership:
“Our collaboration with the Eurasian Economic Commission marks a vital step in bridging global trade routes and strengthening the UAE’s partnership with the Eurasian Economic Union. By sharing our expertise in maritime operations, terminal management, and digital transformation, we aim to create a more resilient and efficient supply chain that benefits all stakeholders.”
He added that the initiative aligns with the UAE’s broader vision to expand its global trade footprint and foster sustainable economic growth in partnership with emerging markets.
Strengthening UAE–EEU Trade Ties
The UAE has emerged as a key trade hub for EEU countries, with bilateral trade reaching nearly $30 billion in 2024, a 27% increase from the previous year, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
AD Ports Group continues to expand its presence in Central Asia, investing heavily in logistics and maritime infrastructure. The Group is actively developing hubs along the ‘Middle Corridor’ trade route linking China and Europe and has made strategic investments in Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
In Kazakhstan, AD Ports Group partners with KazMorTransFlot (KMTF) to transport oil across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan for integration into western pipeline networks. Earlier this year, the company launched GulfLink, a joint venture with Kazakhstan Railways (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC), to strengthen multimodal connectivity and drive digital transformation across the region.
