Abu Dhabi-based G42 has reported significant progress in constructing Stargate UAE, a 1GW large-scale AI infrastructure cluster being developed by Khazna Data Centers, a G42 subsidiary, within the 5GW UAE–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi.
Initially announced in May alongside global partners OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, Cisco, and SoftBank, Stargate UAE has swiftly transitioned from its design phase to full-scale construction under Khazna’s direction. This marks a major milestone in advancing the UAE’s growing AI infrastructure landscape.
In collaboration with its international partners, the project team is fast-tracking the development of the first 200MW phase of the 1GW infrastructure, maintaining an ambitious delivery timeline.
Providing an update, G42 confirmed that construction is well underway and progressing in line with the planned 2026 handover.
Khazna has implemented a design-to-build strategy to streamline the shift from conceptualisation to physical execution.
“Design and engineering work for Stargate UAE is advancing as planned, with civil, structural, and architectural works well progressed,” a company spokesperson stated.
They further added, “Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are being finalised, while production of key modular components has already begun.”
G42 highlighted that procurement for all long-lead equipment has been completed, and initial deliveries of major mechanical systems have already reached the site — a clear sign of the project’s robust supply chain management.
Designed to align with the UAE’s national agenda to expand AI infrastructure at scale, Stargate UAE is set to become a cornerstone of the country’s AI ecosystem, supporting G42’s vision for an ‘Intelligence Grid’ and paving the way towards an AI-native society.
