The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi has prolonged the exemption of charges for issuing, distributing, and advertising event tickets in the emirate, aiming to further stimulate growth in the tourism sector.
Until December 31, 2024, the 10 per cent tourism fee on tickets sold will spare event organizers from payment.
Saleh Mohammed Al Geziry, Director General of Tourism at DCT, remarked: “Abu Dhabi consistently draws visitors from across the globe with its year-round array of events.
“The extension of the waiver on tourism fees until the year-end is part of our drive to accelerate growth and offer ongoing support to our event partners and organisers, who play a crucial role in the tourism and entertainment landscape of the emirate.”
Event organisers must adhere to the specified regulations and continue to secure event licences through the Abu Dhabi Events Licensing System.
Organisers must disclose the revenues generated from their events, furnish supporting financial statements, and collaborate with revenue auditors or individuals appointed by the DCT to verify the accuracy of their declarations.
The exemption of tourism tax is one of several recent initiatives aimed at nurturing the expansion of the tourism and events sector in the emirate.
Other incentives include the reduction of tourism and municipality fees for hotels in Abu Dhabi, alongside updates to the holiday homes policy.
Under this policy adjustment, farmhouse proprietors can now obtain licences to convert their properties into holiday homes.
Landlords and owners of residential units can acquire more than one holiday home licence for multiple units, according to Arabian Business.
