Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has announced sweeping revisions to the emirate’s Road Toll Executive Regulations (DARB), aimed at reducing congestion and improving traffic flow during peak hours.
Key Changes Under New Regulations
Starting September 1, 2025, the evening toll period will shift to 3:00 PM–7:00 PM, while the morning period remains at 7:00 AM–9:00 AM, from Monday to Saturday. Sundays and public holidays will continue to be toll-free.
The most significant update is the removal of daily and monthly toll caps for private vehicles. Currently, caps are set at:
- AED16 per day
- AED200, AED150, and AED100 per month for the first, second, and third vehicles (and any additional vehicles) respectively
From September, these limits will no longer apply. Instead, a flat AED4 ($1.09) fee will be charged each time a vehicle passes through a toll gate.
Additional Details and Exemptions
The existing exemption policy remains in place for People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees.
Q Mobility, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), will manage and operate the DARB toll system in coordination with the ITC to ensure smooth implementation of the new rules.
