The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) reported a 10.3 percent increase in certificates of origin between June 2024 and June 2025. This surge confirms the emirate’s growing non-oil exports, the success of economic diversification strategies, and an active external trade environment. The rise highlights a widening base of exporters and greater diversity in economic activities across Abu Dhabi.
Export Activity Gains Momentum
The Chamber stated that this growth reflects its commitment to boosting private sector competitiveness and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a trade and investment hub. Certificates of origin were issued to companies from sectors such as chemicals, metals, and engineering, underlining the emirate’s strong industrial foundation. Moreover, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) saw higher export volumes, supported by initiatives like business matchmaking, export training, and partnerships with trade authorities.
During the first half of 2025, Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade rose 34.7 percent. Non-oil exports increased 64 percent, re-exports 35 percent, and imports 15 percent. These figures demonstrate the vitality of Abu Dhabi’s economy and growing global partnerships. Last year also saw non-oil trade up 9 percent, exports rising 16 percent, and imports growing by 3 percent.
Commitment to Global Competitiveness
Shamis Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, said, “The sustained rise in certificates of origin issued by the Chamber is clear evidence of the emirate’s thriving export sector. This momentum demonstrates the global competitiveness of our companies and their ability to capitalise on new market opportunities, reinforcing Abu Dhabi as a regional hub for trade and manufacturing. It is also a testament to the trust that global markets have in the quality of products and services offered by our local businesses. We stay dedicated to support Abu Dhabi and UAE non-oil exports as a dynamic force for economic advancement, providing world-class trade facilitations solutions to enable SMEs in particular to reach international markets efficiently and sustainably.”
He added that ADCCI continues to support exporters through advanced services, strategic partnerships, and advocacy for private sector interests. Certificates of origin remain vital for accessing international markets, enabling customs advantages through trade agreements and enhancing the competitiveness of UAE goods.
The Chamber affirmed that these results align with Abu Dhabi’s economic vision to strengthen non-oil trade as a driver of sustainable growth. Al Dhaheri concluded, “We regard these indicators as a reflection of business community confidence in the Chamber’s services and reiterate our commitment to developing our digital infrastructure and supporting initiatives that serve the aspirations of Abu Dhabi. This will further enable the private sector’s global expansion and economic resilience.”
