Abu Dhabi has launched flexible health insurance options for entrepreneurs and investors, catering to their needs in a bid to boost the emirate’s appeal as an attractive destination for business. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) partnered with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) to provide these policies, which include coverage for expatriates residing in the emirate who earn more than AED 5,000 per month, as well as investors and free business license holders, their families, and employees.
The insurance covers treatment costs up to AED 150,000 annually and includes 100% emergency coverage, 20% copay for all outpatient treatment services, and a 30% copay for medications. Upgraded insurance coverage options are also available based on the patient’s requirements. The new insurance policy is also aimed at addressing the growing demands of the market.
H.E. Dr. Mariam Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of Healthcare Payers Sector at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said: “The insurance policy was initiated to provide a health insurance package that enhances competitiveness in the sector while attracting businesses in the private sector. This is in light of what Abu Dhabi represents as a leading destination for those wishing to develop their businesses in various fields, due to its advanced infrastructure and incentive measures.”
Companies or individuals planning to subscribe to the ‘flexible health insurance’ policy must contact health insurance companies when the current health insurance policy is about to expire to obtain more details and apply to the ‘flexible health insurance’ if the eligibility conditions are met, DoH stated.
