According to data from global hotel research firm STR, Abu Dhabi and Dubai hotels occupancy levels are forecast to exceed 80% during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays.
The books indicate that Abu Dhabi and Dubai will have a peak occupancy of 59.7% and 60.3%, respectively, on April 22nd. During the Eid holidays, it is expected that Qatar’s occupancy rate will reach 70%. However, on April 23rd, the highest point of booked occupancy will be 42.3%.
“While typically slower during Ramadan, leisure travel within the Middle East is set to resume during Eid,” said Kostas Nikolaidis, STR’s account executive, Middle East & Africa.
“Many countries offer paid holidays for three to five days post-Ramadan, which is where we typically see spikes in occupancy. This year, however, Qatar announced an 11-day holiday, further extending the length of travel time available to celebrate the end of the holy month,” added Nikolaidis.
During Eid Al-Fitr last year, the occupancy rates in Qatar and Dubai reached 78.2% and 88.8% respectively on May 4th, while Abu Dhabi experienced its highest occupancy rate on May 3rd at 85.4%. Abu Dhabi Airports had previously anticipated that more than 500,000 travelers would use Abu Dhabi International Airport during the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
