The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has launched the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA) to regulate and enhance the business sector across the emirate.
This initiative follows the Abu Dhabi Executive Council’s decision to establish ADRA to oversee business registration in the emirate and its non-financial economic free zones. ADRA will work with relevant entities to streamline licensing procedures, ensuring compliance with laws related to anti-money laundering, financing of suspicious activities, and the tackling of illicit organisations.
ADRA will also create a unified database consolidating data on economic establishments in the mainland and free zones, aiding in the management of the commercial registry and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Using advanced digital solutions, ADRA will support business establishment, operations, and growth, driving investment and fostering a robust business ecosystem. It will introduce new licence types, attracting talent, investors, and entrepreneurs to the emirate’s dynamic economy.
Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADDED, highlighted that ADRA is a key milestone in Abu Dhabi’s economic development. It will offer streamlined procedures and expert guidance, helping businesses expand locally and globally. Al Zaabi added that ADRA will attract new investments in key sectors and ensure compliance with global standards, reinforcing transparency and providing valuable data to support informed decision-making.
ADRA’s role in ensuring compliance with local, federal, and international regulations will strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a preferred destination for talent, investors, and businesses, enhancing the emirate’s Falcon Economy.
