In a first for the region, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has started accepting digital currency for court-related fees through AE Coin, a UAE Central Bank-regulated stablecoin. The move follows a strategic partnership with Al Maryah Bank and signals a major advancement in integrating digital assets into public services.
Secure and Rapid Transactions via AEC Wallet
Under the new system, users can make payments for various judicial and legal services using AE Coin via the AEC Wallet — a digital platform designed to ensure fast, secure, and fully online transactions. The initiative positions Abu Dhabi as a regional leader in adopting regulated digital currency for government services.
Part of UAE’s Vision for Future Finance
Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of ADJD, noted the agreement aligns with the department’s ongoing digital transformation strategy. Mohammed Wassim Khayata, CEO of Al Maryah Bank, added that the move offers “advanced, secure financial experiences that reflect the UAE’s values and future vision.”
Ramez Rafiq, General Manager of AED Stablecoin, described the development as a “pivotal moment” for both the company and the region’s broader digital finance landscape.
