Akbar Moideen Thumbay serves as Vice President of Thumbay Healthcare, the medical arm of Thumbay Group, and co-chairs the GMU Academic Health System. Educated across India, UAE, Italy, and the US, he began his career in New York before joining Thumbay Group, founded by his father, Dr. Thumbay Moideen.
He oversees hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, labs, and optical outlets across the UAE. Under his leadership, Thumbay Healthcare has grown into the country’s largest private-academic network, serving patients from 175 countries, treating over 11 million people, and conducting 100,000+ deliveries.
The division operates seven hospitals with 800 beds and was the 5th worldwide to achieve JCI Enterprise Accreditation.
