Dr. Zulekha Daud is a pioneering Indian Physician and the Founder and Chairperson of Zulekha Healthcare Group, which operates leading healthcare facilities in the UAE. Moving to the UAE in 1964, she became the first female Indian doctor to practice in the region, initially working at the American Kuwait Mission Hospital. Known affectionately as “Mama Zulekha,” she managed deliveries of thousands of babies, attended to every disease with which people came to her, old and young, and gained the trust of the people.
In 1992, she established the first Zulekha Hospital in Sharjah, starting as a 30-bed facility and later expanding the group to include a hospital in Dubai, two medical centers, and a pharmacy chain.
Dr. Daud’s dedication to healthcare and philanthropy is widely recognised. Beyond medicine, she founded charitable trusts and vocational centres supporting education and clean water initiatives.
