UAE-based technology group e& enterprise has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Government of the Republic of Serbia to advance digital infrastructure projects, including a major expansion of the country’s data centre capacity. The plan aims to add up to 40 megawatts (MW) to the existing 14-MW Tier-4 facility in Kragujevac, effectively tripling its capacity.
The partnership, formalised with Serbia’s Office for IT and eGovernment, seeks to reinforce the country’s role as a regional hub for sovereign cloud and digital services.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday at e&’s Al Kifaf headquarters in Dubai by Khalid Murshed, CEO of e& enterprise, and Dr Mihailo Jovanović, Director of Serbia’s Office for IT and eGovernment.
Commenting on the agreement, Murshed said: “Data centres are the foundation of every digital economy, and Serbia has already demonstrated its strength with world-class infrastructure, rapidly emerging as a digital nerve-centre for Southeast Europe.
“By combining the Office’s established eGovernment capabilities with e& enterprise’s global expertise and cloud ecosystem, we are creating new data-centre capacity that addresses domestic needs while supporting startups, financial institutions and AI-driven workloads across the Balkans. This positions Serbia as a key regional hub for digital growth.”
Since its establishment in 2017, the Office for IT and eGovernment has been instrumental in driving Serbia’s digital transformation. Among its initiatives is the creation of the nation’s first state-owned Tier-4 data centre, offering 14 MW of capacity and 1,080 racks. With land already allocated for a 40-MW expansion, Serbia is gearing up to scale its infrastructure in line with rising national and regional demand.
