The Abu Dhabi Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Indian People’s Forum (IPF) jointly hosted a spectacular celebration of India’s 79th Independence Day, bringing together the Indian diaspora, distinguished guests, and community leaders for an evening filled with national pride, cultural richness, and professional camaraderie.
The event commenced with a solemn tribute to both nations through the rendition of the UAE and Indian national anthems, followed by the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing enlightenment and unity. The arrival of Chief Guest Shri K. Annamalai, esteemed BJP leader and former IPS officer, was marked by a traditional Dhool performance and a warm tilak welcome by Naari Shakti, reflecting India’s vibrant customs and the strength of its women.
IPF President Shri Jitendra Vaidya delivered a heartfelt welcome address, introducing the Chief Guest with his signature eloquence. He also shared insights into IPF’s impactful presence in the UAE, highlighting its various verticals and community-driven initiatives that foster cultural and social engagement among Indian expatriates.
The cultural segment began with a mesmerizing Ghoomar dance performed by a group of Rajasthani Mahilas, celebrating the colors and traditions of Rajasthan. This was followed by a patriotic Tamil performance that stirred emotions and pride among the audience, showcasing the unity in diversity that defines India.
CA Krishnan N V, Chairman of ICAI Abu Dhabi Chapter, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the strength and solidarity of the Chartered Accountants’ professional community in the UAE. He also recited a touching poem in Tamil dedicated to the Chief Guest, adding a personal and poetic touch to the evening.
In his keynote speech, Shri K. Annamalai praised India’s dynamic economic progress and global positioning. “India’s GDP growth remains among the fastest in the world, with a projected 6.5% for 2024–25. We are on track to become the third-largest economy globally, driven by bold reforms in digitization, infrastructure, and investment,” he stated. He also acknowledged the role of the Indian diaspora in contributing to India’s global stature and innovation-driven future.
The event was graced by prominent UAE businessmen and dignitaries, who expressed admiration for India’s achievements and reaffirmed the deep-rooted cultural and economic ties between the two nations.
CA Rohit Dayma, Vice Chairman of ICAI Abu Dhabi Chapter, presented the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, performers, volunteers, and organizing teams for making the celebration truly memorable. The event was seamlessly hosted by Mr. Naveen Bhardwaj, whose engaging presence and command over the proceedings kept the audience captivated throughout. The evening concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the values of freedom, unity, and progress, reinforcing the commitment of the Indian community in the UAE to contribute to India’s journey of global leadership.
